Loch Leven by honz12 Loch Leven by honz12
Another one from my summer expedition along The West Highland Way.
I was sitting in the MacDonald Hotel in Kinlochleven having my dinner and this was the view out the window beside me (in fact I shot this through the glass) The rather prominent mountain is the Pap of Glencoe. I was hoping for a beautiful sunset later that night, but as is typical for Scotland it just became darker and darker.

updated:
I was really having problems seeing the bright rim around the mountain on the left, but I took it back into PS and skipped the unsharp mask process. The only treatment the image has had is the sepia toning and a resize.
Thanks to ~stilist and *dtobi for the encouragement.

Amazing shot. I love Glencoe and and Loch Leven. From some angles the Pap looks a bit.. obscure.. if you know what I mean :D

Very nice! The tone (not just the sepia but the origial tone) is very nice for this photo. The composition is dead-on perfect. Overall contrast,. I'd say you got a very nice photo here.

However, in my opinion I think the sandbar blends into the tree too much. The color is just so similar and so near each other it just seems to blend. So if you wanted to do more PS work, I'd say either lighten the sandbar just very slightly so there is an obvious difference, or lighten the tree in the same way. That way, I think, it will make the tree stand out more and look better.

Just my :twocents:

Thanks for the great comment. I think you're right about your opinion on the tree/sandbar, someday I'll maybe take it back into PS

such a gorgeous looking view. must be lovely to see it in person :wow: and also a lovely composition - you seem to have got a lot in the shot. I do wonder what this was like in colour though :)

Wow, that's amazing. I really like the artistic sepia tone. You have an amazing eye for photography, it just blows me away that that photo was from inside too.

Keep on going on vacations (so you can take pictures of course ;))

Beautiful as usual. The bright rim around the left hill is a bit distracting is this a result of the post processing or was it there originally? I really love the single sun ray breaking through the clouds! Another :+fav: fom me!

Hmmm, I was really having problems seeing this bright rim. I've taken the original back into PS and skipped the unsharp mask process and it does appear to have cured it... I think. Thanks for the honest critique, file is updated.

I love it, but you've got that darned brighness around the edges of your mountains again. Other than that, it's really good [especially for shooting through glass.]
